When this lovely patient’s infant daughter jumped up into her chin, the result was a fractured front tooth.
The teeth were replaced with upper and lower removable dentures, with the lower denture being held in by 2 dental implants with ‘locator’ abutments.
This patient had been missing her upper right premolar and molar for over a decade.
This case demonstrates the use of implants in a narrow space. A 3.3 mm Straumann implant was used to replace a missing upper premolar;
This patient had been missing her upper left lateral incisor since childhood.
One of the commonest uses for an implant is to replace a single missing molar.
David has gained a reputation for being very gentle and calming which is particularly useful in treating anxious or nervous patients as well as children. David’s aim is to create a soothing environment without urgency, so that he can explain or narrate each procedure to eliminate the surprise that certain sounds or sensations in the dental surgery can create. He understands that for many people, going to the dentist is daunting, and hopes that his friendly, fun and gentle attitude can contribute to a positive experience and alleviate any anxiety. With his experience in treating children, he hopes that his younger patients will feel excited about their regular check-ups.
David lives with his wife Annabelle, who is a paediatric Occupational Therapist , and his young kids Henry , Isabelle, Thomas and Border-Collie Darla.
He is an avid rugby fan, still playing himself for Killara-West Pymble Limping Leos Over 35s rugby team.
David has completed 10 consecutive years of surfboat competition, most of these competing for North Bondi. He has achieved his long serviceman status for Surf Life Saving. He and Annabelle are both current volunteer lifesavers at Palm Beach Surf Lifesaving Club, and was awarded the 2025 Patrol leader of the year.
