Digital X rays
X rays are a vital part of a thorough dental examination, they show your dentist the condition of your teeth, and their roots.
Dental x-rays at Pymble
X rays are a vital part of a thorough dental examination, they show your dentist the condition of your teeth, and their roots, especially any decay between teeth or abscesses and infections; jaw placement and the general alignment of your facial bones. An X-ray can also help your dentist detect periodontal (gum) disease, cysts, tumours and other abnormal growths.
Digital x rays at our practice are wireless sensors which can be used instead of the old-fashioned films. They are scanned directly to the computer in high resolution in a matter of seconds. The wireless sensors are smaller and therefore more comfortable for patients than most of the sensors on the market, and provide excellent diagnostic ability to our dentists.
By using this state of the art digital radiography (x-rays), the amount of radiation required to produce a high resolution image is extremely low, especially compared to the old-fashioned film systems. They are amazingly quick and painless, and are loaded to our database for inspection virtually immediately!
Dental X-rays are safe during pregnancy. It would take 50,000 dental x rays to reach the minimum harmful dose of exposure to the foetus. Digital x rays are also very safe for adults, with more radiation gained from a flight from Sydney to Melbourne than a single dental x ray.
